The minimum amount of required car insurance for Missouri is liability coverage for $25,000 for the bodily injury of one person per accident, $50,000 for bodily injury of two or more people per accident and $10,000 for property damage. You should always have proof of car insurance coverage whenever you are driving on the streets, roads and highways of Missouri. You will need to show proof of car insurance coverage when renewing your license plate or our vehicle registration. You might also be requested by the Missouri Department of Revenue to provide your proof of car insurance.

The State of Missouri Department of Revenue and the States Drivers License Bureau require all car insurance companies to provide them with reports on all auto insurance policies in the state every month. The reports include all the activities of the policies, such as cancellations and renewals.

If you failed to maintain your car insurance, your vehicle registration and license may be suspended. You may also get four points for failure to maintain your Financial Responsibility. If you get eight points within a period of 18 months, your driving privileges will be revoked. You can have your license plate and/or drivers license reinstated after your suspension. To do so, you will have to provide your proof of insurance and pay the  reinstatement fee if it was your first suspension. If it was your second suspension, you will pay the $200 reinstatement fee and provide your proof of car insurance. If it was your third and subsequent suspension, you must pay the reinstatement fee of $400 and show proof of car insurance for Missouri.
